Ackers Pit Stocking

Ackers Pit was stocked with approx 200 small carp this week. The young carp average 2-3lbs, and so should be 'cormorant-proof'.

 

The new fish are to replace the carp lost to an unknown disease, which affected the pit in 2006 before the desilting works took place.

 

Work continues at Ackers Pit to improve the habitat for fish and wildlife, and prevent bank erosion. Regular working parties will be held on sundays. If you would like to lend a hand for a couple of hours, please contact Martin James.
