23rd March 2010 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes

The Trent & Mersey spring league was won this week by Paul Booth with a cracking net of roach for 9-14-0 taken on good old dependable Warburton's bread punch. With one round to go Paul is one of the four contenders to win the league which is currently led by Ross Whiteman on 44 points.

Barry Owen put in a class performance from a difficult peg to take the honours in our weekly Disabled & Over 60's match. Bread punch accounted for his all roach catch. Match organiser John Dagnall clung on to what seems to be his regular fourth place despite I am reliably informed some intensive coaching over the weekend. For those members who fancy a bit of competition and good humour you could do far worse than turn up on a Monday for this event. Any doubts or concerns ring John on the number below.

At Worthington Lakes Adlington is now closed until the 16th June but Arley and the main Worthington reservoirs remain open. Arley is producing a few decent bream and roach to maggot and feeder tactics. According to one regular it fished better when they had to break the ice!

At Woodshaw Reservoir cruciens are still showing up in catches along with small roach and rudd. The chub which we introduced in May 2009 are packing on weight and our local bailiff team report anglers catching as many as 20 or so in a session.

Cicily Mill Pool is producing a few reasonable mixed catches such as that taken by John Broughton who reports a good session with bream and tench on mini-boilies. This shallow fishery is usually one of the first to hit form as the weather gets warmer.

The work on the pathway at Grey Mist Mere is now well advanced and I understand the next target is more peg construction. As regards the fishing a few tench are still showing and so far two of the new carp stock has been caught.

Please keep sending in your catch reports as they help both fellow members and your management committee in their continuous fishery evaluation. Tel. 01928 716238 FAX 01928713898 or e-mail frank@warrington-anglers.org.uk.

HQ Parker Street is open as usual on Friday evening between 7 & 9pm for subscriptions, new members, etc. Also new memberships can be purchased from any of our tackle shop outlets (see our website for your nearest).
