9th September 2008 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes

The Mersey match was abandoned on Sunday due to flood condition and the venue switched at short notice to Appleton Reservoir. I think the results will open a few eyes regarding this member neglected venue. Winner Jim Shaw romped home with a quality net of roach for 19-6-0 from the dam wall taken on feeder. Also fishing the wall but with an ounce under 5lbs lighter, but still a cracking catch, Harry Morris put 14-7-0 on the scales for runner up spot. Thirteen anglers weighed in a total of 93lbs which consisted of mainly roach with a few perch. Don't forget if you fish from the dam wall it is rod only as in the interests of safety poles are banned from this part of the fishery.

Vice President Geoff Brooks always keeps in touch with comments and reports from around our fisheries, his latest, a favourable report regarding the large numbers of fry in the vicinity of Thelwall and Statham. Looks good for the future!

Despite the horrendous weather over the past weekend there were still members out there determined not to give up their regular fishing fix. Simon Bridgeman reports a catch of over 40 small tench and rudd plus a common carp of 10-8-0 from High Legh Fisheries which he took on maggot and corn on the pole at 11 metres. Cicily Mill Pool provided some action for Jim Ross with crucien carp to 2-8-0 taken from the margin alternating small pieces of meat and his own paste concoction which included Chef brown sauce in the mix.

All subscription reminders have now been sent out to members who according to our records have not yet paid for 2008. Subs can still be paid at the shops advertised in the license, by post or on Friday nights at HQ.

Please let me have your catch reports on 01928 716238 FAX 01928713898 or e-mail frank@warrington-anglers.org.uk.

HQ Parker Street will be open as usual on Friday evening between 7 & 9-30pm for subscriptions, new members, etc.
