9th June 2015 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes.

Eight year old Charlotte Bather has been accompanying her Dad Steve to our Offas Dyke fishery on a regular basis where they have had some nice catches of roach and perch on pole and maggot. Last Saturday though she tried a change of tactics to method feeder and entice 10mm pop ups which bagged a very nice 8lb common carp her new pb needless to say one very happy young lady.

Our junior Sqad at Woodshaw Wigan have been representing WAA over the last few weeks in the Gtr Manchester CADG spring series although some of the team are very young only 9 and 10 years old they still took everything in their stride. Including being a man down in one match and some dire weather conditions to finished a very creditable second overall. Team Coach Bob Morris is delighted with their commitment and perseverance. Big thank you to Bob, his helpers and the parents who got them to the matches.

Dave Walls reported a great morning on Woodshaw Reservoir when he caught crucian carp to 2lb, tench and bream to 3lb and loads of 2 to 3 oz roach and skimmers all caught alternating between corn and maggot because he left his pellets, the usual bait of choice at Woodshaw, at home.

Mike Dench had a trip to the Ribble at the weekend and it is safe to say the chub and barbel are getting the spawning out of the way before the rivers open for coarse fishing next Tuesday. He filmed shoals busy spawning in the shallow water hopefully it will be ideal conditions and a good year for both.

Just a couple of reminders dogs are not allowed on our waters, one rod on Cicily mill pool, two rods not three on small Sandiway lake until October. It is one of the conditions of membership that members acquaint themselves with the rules.

If you are intending to night fish any of the waters It is a good idea to book on before you leave home, if you get to a fishery and set up then ring you might find it is already booked up for that night. So best to be sure of a place before you travel to the venue.

Please note Challinor's Sports LTD has not been a WAA depot since last year when Beverly and Neil retired. The new owner decided not to apply to be a depot so please don't go in expecting to pay subs then giving him 'grief'. Subs can be paid at all the current depots listed in the licence, HQ Parker Street and by post.
