16th November 2010 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian
As you would expect at this time of year we have been getting reports of good pike catches around the waters one member had four doubles ranging in size from just over 10lb to 19lb in a session on the Bridgewater canal in the Lymm area all on deadbaits.
Thelwall, Grappenhall and Walton are also worth a chuck on deadbaits like lamprey, joeys and smelts which are all good on the Bridgewater. Rixton has produced a nice pike of 12lb too also to deadbaits while Grey mist and the River Mersey are also worth considering for pike.
Charlie Farrell and a couple of mates chose the Trent & Mersey at the weekend  they fished on the Broken cross Pub stretch and had a bite a chuck on pinkie, squat, punch and caster. Charlie himself had 142 fish for just over 3lb. Roach, perch and gudgeon made up his net.  He caught nothing big but had plenty of bites to keep him warm.
The River Dee has been producing some nice mixed catches of roach, grayling and decent perch to 3lb in some areas. The River Dane has been very quiet, Ron the bailiff says he has hardly seen an angler on it for the last couple of weeks he has had it to himself but he wasn't complaining.
I noticed this catch report by chance on the website forum this morning, although not caught during this last week I thought it may still be of interest. On 5th November the bailiff had been doing his rounds and asked the only angler on the lake how he was doing. Hopeless couldn't catch a cold was the reply!
However half an hour later the formerly despondent angler was netting a 27lb 3oz carp it was his first fish from Grey Mist which he described as in beautiful condition. It must have given a good account of itself because he said he felt as though he had hooked and played a submarine!
Sadly there was no one around to take his picture with his capture. The successful method was 8mm yellow fishmeal boillie hair rigged on a size 16 hook.
