7th December 2021 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes

7th December 2021 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes

Not many anglers are out on the banksides this week but our bailiffs are still making regular visits looking after members interests. On Monday a lone member checked at Worthington Reservoir was catching roach, no method given but I would bet on small feeder and maggot.

Ian Higgins ignored the weather on Monday and was rewarded with four pike which he caught spinning on the Bridgewater Canal between Statham and Lymm. Nothing massive, best around 10lbs but very happy to catch anything. I checked a non-member who had recently moved to the area fishing at Preston Brook last week. He reported losing a pike but landed a specimen perch on a lure which he weighed at 3-5-0. Needless to say, he is now going to join!

Our anonymous peg builder sporting some impressive 'shades' was at it again on the Weaver Navigation on Thursday where his much-appreciated efforts have added another double peg which when the weather improves just needs 'stoning'. He reported an angler getting a fish a chuck, sadly they were minnows, at least he didn't dry net😊

Jimmy Byrne was the winner of last week's Mersey Match by a mile with an impressive weight in very poor conditions but this week they were even worse and he did not have any sign of a bite. Nick Burrows needed only fifteen tiny roach caught on feeder tactics and single maggot from peg 26 to notch up his second Mersey win of the year with a weight of 1-15-0. Paul Field took second place with the same method with 1-12-0. Thirteen anglers fished.

Our Disabled & Over 60's Monday match took place this week on the Bridgewater Canal at Walton but the canal was highly coloured and bites were few and far between. Winner Roy Rogers fished the pole and maggot down the side to catch six tiny roach to which he added a bonus perch of 1lb for 1-4-7. George Hollis was the runner-up with 0-9-12. Thirteen anglers fished.

Online renewals for both 2022 memberships and night permits are now live and can be accessed from our homepage.
