Mike Pryer and Steve Draper fished The Mount at Buckley on the last two Sundays and the roach fishing was brilliant. They fished a 6metre margin pole catching roach to over 1lb and plenty of small bream, plus bonus tench and carp up-to 8lb but a few carp didn't quite make to the net. Successful method was red maggot over a bed of groundbait. Mike recommends that if members give the silvers a try, they will not be disappointed.

Dave Spencer enjoyed a good evenings fishing at Ackers Pit on Friday considering that he went on the spur of the moment and only took a couple of rounds of bread for bait. He fished a waggler with bread flake and had a small roach before being pulled all over the pit by a mirror carp that tipped the scales at 9.5 lbs. It was in great condition and is the best fish he'd had out of Ackers Pit during the 60 years that he has been fishing the water. Dave also had another mirror of 7.5 lbs and as he said, "Not a bad two hours!"

Craig Stubbs decided after four decades of carp fishing to turn the clock back to how it all started when he was a youngster. The result was a lovely days fishing at Rixton Claypits catching roach, rudd, a few hybrids, and some perch. Craig's still into his carp fishing but just fancied a nostalgic trip.

Mark Akery finally managed to catch his first carp from Little Sandiway, a 20lbs common that fought like a demon. And the action continued throughout the night with a nice low double mirror and a linear of 19-8-0 and a final tally of five fish. His mate Carl Jones caught a 19-12-0 linear and a 13-10-0 common.

Our Monday Disabled & Over 60's match this week was on our Woodshaw Reservoir Fishery at Wigan which is in pristine condition thanks to our team of volunteers. Local rod Tim Dwerryhouse was well ahead of the rest of the field with a weight of 13-4-0 made up of nine crucians caught using the pole at 10 meters on double red maggot with a small ball of ground bait every put-in. The runner-up was Alan Brown with 4-8-0 of small skimmers and roach.

Members who take the trouble to send in catch reports earn the appreciation of fellow members as it helps them to know how waters are fishing and plan their outings. Equally important, they give me something to write about! Email frank@warrington-anglers.org.uk or give me a ring on 01928 716238.

WAA Headquarters at 52, Parker Street are open as usual every Friday between 7 & 9pm. New members are welcome to call in and join, current ones can renew their subscription, or night permit.
