14th June 2016 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes

14th June, 2016 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes

I had a trip to Grey Mist Mere on Monday and spoke to new member Howard Tims who was really singing the fisheries praises as an outstanding tench water. Last week in a daytime session he caught mirror carp of 18-5-0, 14-5-0, and fifteen tench averaging five to six pounds with the best weighed at 9-8-0. He started his session early at 5-30am but didn't get his first fish until 9am. There was not a piece of electronic gadgetry in sight as Howard stuck with his tried and tested sidewinder indicator method which I doubt not too many of you have used, but the results speak for themselves. He had already netted his first tench just before my arrival that sent the scales round to 8-5-o and all the fish mentioned were caught on corn over mixed particles. A very happy member.

A big thank you is due to Dale Blackburn and the pupils of St Chads High School in Runcorn who annually clean up litter and mess deposited by uncaring individuals at Phoenix Park Lake. They are all super stars and a credit to their school, long may this association continue.

This week our friendly plumber, George Hollis led the field in our Monday Disabled & Over 60's match fished on the Bridgewater Canal. Fish were shoaled on a few pegs probably not dispersed following spawning so it was all on the draw and George with a mixed bag of 4-4-0 took advantage in what was a close match between those drawn on fish. John Dagnall was only a skimmer short of the win but was happy with his runner-up weight of 3-13-0. Please note next week there is a change of venue to the Trent & Mersey Canal, Farm Road.

Sport slowed down for our Woodshaw Junior Summer League on Monday and winner Scott Roberts needed only 3-12-0 to add to his points with another win. New member, Lukas Zubrickas wasn't too far behind the winner and was happy in his first Warrington Anglers match with 3-10-0 and second place. Keep up the pressure Lukas.

This weekly eight match series fished on a points basis with an extra ninth match as a 'Fun BBQ match' and prize presentation and also for added interest incorporating six separate cup matches as listed in you membership card on page 15 is open to all members. There are plenty of prizes so fill your boots.

Just a warning that members who are caught using their membership booklet without their current photograph firmly glued in place on the inside rear cover risk having their card taken by bailiffs. It is a simple task and is there to protect members interests by ensuring memberships are not used by others.

Our headquarters at 52, Parker Street are open as usual every Friday between 7 & 9pm for new members, subscription and night permit renewals, and any queries. Your catch reports are always welcome, email me details to frank@warrington-anglers.org.uk or ring me on 01928 716238.
