Alan Davenport visited Woodshaw Reservoir last week with his father Ted who was fishing the venue for the first time. Following a 6am start they both had a productive morning, Alan finished up with fifteen crucians from 0.5lbs to 1.25lbs plus loads of roach and perch. Ted likewise enjoyed the session catching roach with nothing smaller than 6 ounces. They both fished just past the marginal weed feeding hemp and maggot with double maggot on the hook. Not too bad for a noon finish with Ted definitely pressing for a return visit.

The ink is barely dry on Peter Hilton's membership book but he has certainly been making the most of re-joining WAA following a 'lay off' of half a century with another visit to the under-fished Bridgewater Canal at Astley Green adding more bream to his catch diary. He started with sweetcorn until a switch to float-fished bread punch brought the required result.

Connor Croston was the winner our Junior Woodshaw Reservoir match on Monday with a weight of 13-12-0 of carp, tench, and roach fishing the pole using maggot and pellet. In second place was Thomas Mawdsley with 9-11-0. The overall winner of the junior series was Scot Roberts with a total of 65.5 points and a total overall weight of 38-11-0. The series runner-up was James Brown 55 points and total series weight of 36.8. Next week's match is the prize presentation and BBQ.

Our popular Disabled & Over 60's match on Monday was won by Derek Bibby with a weight of 5-12-0. It was fished on the Bridgewater Canal at Preston Brook Mersey and he included skimmers, roach, and perch in his winning net of fish. Second place was taken by Lenny Dutton who was only a skimmer short of a win with a similar net for 5-1-2.

Mersey regular Jimmy Byrnes put together a skimmer, perch, and roach net for 7-2-0 to win our Saturday Series this week fishing the tip and pole methods using maggot. Second placed Derek Bibby also managed a bonus skimmer on the tip before swapping to the pole on which he put together the bulk of his catch of mainly roach and perch.

The Tom James Open on the same river fished much harder than the previous day and saw match organiser Ray Boden win the event with 5-12-0 of roach and perch taken on the pole and maggot whilst taking another second place in as many days Derek Bibby fished both the pole and tip for his weight of 4-9-0.
