18th May 2010 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes
Many is the time that members give me catch reports in confidence which in every case I maintain irrespective of how tasty a morsel of information is involved. The only difference is that once it enters the public domain as secrets inevitably do then it is 'game on'. Consequently I can now report the capture of a massive bream of 18lbs from Sandiway which is the hottest news from this big fish venue for a while. Word is that the specimen was not even carrying spawn which is absolutely mind blowing.
More good news for the future of this venue is that I have now had our order confirmed for eight 20 to 22lbs mirrors from VS Fisheries. They are all C6 fish that are bred and raised by this reputable company and they will add variety to the existing stock sometime in November. Fish are already on order for other fisheries.
Over the weekend Jerron Lloyd who is barely seven years of age made her angling debut in good style when she visited Grey Mist Mere accompanied by two very experienced carp anglers, one being her grandfather keen to get her into our sport. Fresh from a productive French carping trip and armed with a vast knowledge of catching fish at the Mist it was then to say the least embarrassing when both experts blanked and Jerron landed her first ever fish an unforgettable tench of 5lbs. My lips are tightly sealed as to the identity of the two anglers concerned.
As the carp action on Grey Mist Mere has eased up this past week the slack has been taken up at Rixton Claypits. Baileys Tackle based Bernard Anderson had a hectic three hour session catching countless perch which snatched his carefully lowered lobworm before the carefully stalked carp had half a chance. Nevertheless he was rewarded with two commons and a mirror, all lower doubles. Tench and skimmers are still feeding well.
Just another reminder that our popular Junior/Intermediate Summer Series is back again again on Monday draw 6pm at Euclid Avenue all welcome. The Minnows starts the following evening on Tuesday draw 6pm. The Minnows is an ideal opportunity to introduce newcomers and improvers to the sport with the added benefit of a teaching element included throughout the series. Further details from Helen Dagnall on 01925 635486.
