This week, Tony Baron had a session with his mate on the Dee at Shocklach where fishing float and red maggot he had a few Grayling, weighing up to a pound along with 7 Chub from 8ozs to 1lbs of course the obliging Trout put in an appearance. His mate also had a similar catch but included Chub to 2lbs.
Phil McKracken took his son for a visit to our Ackers Pit fishery and were not disappointed when Phil`s son landed a hard fighting 6lbs 2oz Mirror Carp and a few quality Roach which I`m sure he won`t forget in a hurry.
Kev Brindles choice of venue was Statham Pool, fishing the waggler with red maggot, corn & pellet he helped himself to a good Bream, loads of Roach and an Eel.
Regular contributor to the blog Phil Brown who is no stranger to our Rixton fishery fished with corn & meat under a float rig close in and ended his session with 12 Bream and 2 dozen Roach. Phil fished his hook bait over a bed of silver x & exploding fish ground bait.
Ken Hewitt chose the Kingsway stretch of the mighty Mersey and the conditions couldn`t have been much worse, float fishing with maggots with the sun blazing on a low & clear river he managed 9 Roach before stopping for the day. Ken also tried the feeder approach but with no success on this method.
This week`s Mersey Match saw the return of some old Face`s to the river, and it was one of these that took the honours. Rod Fraser put together a lovely net of fish from peg 22, starting on the feeder Rod managed a few skimmers in the 1st hour before switching to the pole. Here he added a mixture of silvers to pip Jim Gannon to top spot after Jim had lost a 2lbs fish at the net. A Brown and Neil Buist battled it out for 3rd & 4th on weir lane.
Rod Fraser and A Brown were once again in the money but only as runner`s up on the Bridgewater when Dean Loftus edged them out of top spot. Fishing end peg Dean had on his debut managed 6lbs 13ozs of Roach up to 8ozs from opposite the Barn owl pub. John Ashwin also in the frame again following an early Bream and backup Roach gave him 4th.
