26th October 2021 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes
Thursday saw Jimmy Byrne enjoy a cracking pleasure session on the River Mersey from peg 74 where he bagged-up on roach, perch, and half a dozen bream between 4 and 7lbs for around 40lbs in total. He fished a groundbait feeder and red maggot.
Phil Brown reports landing three carp from Appleton Reservoir last Wednesday, 4lbs, 13.5lbs, and the biggest at 19lbs. All fell for a method feeder set-up on soaked pellets and spodded particle mix. Certainly, the number of smaller fish showing up in catches lately is encouraging. He was back out fishing the Res again on Saturday where it ended up with a one-all draw….one lost, one 24pounder landed.
Ian Simms reports a rod bending session on the Bridgewater Canal at Dunham on Saturday where when drop-shotting for perch he failed to catch a single stripey. But he did land three pike, the best around 8 or 9lbs which all tested his light rod to the limit.
Match organiser Jimmy Byrne was the winner of this week's Sunday Mersey Series fished on the Victoria Part stretch from peg. He drew peg 16 and fished a small groundbait and red maggot down the middle of the river ending up with around forty fish made up of twenty silver bream, roach, perch, and a 2lb roach/bream hybrid for a total weight of 11lbs. Ray Boden took second place with 10-4-0 of roach and perch on maggot using both pole and bolo. Eighteen anglers fished.
Our Disabled & Over 60's Monday match this week was on the Bridge water Canal opposite Daresbury Labs and saw Jeff Stoll repeat his success of last week by clocking up another win. He fished the pole alternating between bread and pinkie for a weight of 3-6-0 of roach and perch. George Barber aka The Breadman took second place with 2-14-0 of small roach. Fifteen anglers fished.
