Our Disabled & Over 60's match on Monday had a change of venue to the River Mersey at Kingsway where it was won by veteran all-rounder Derek Bibby with a nice net of skimmers, roach, and perch for a weight of 8-2-0. Barry Chambers showed he can still catch a fish or two by coming second with 5-3-0 of roach and perch taken on pole and maggot.
It's a double win for Mersey Master and match organiser Ray Boden who started of his weekend with a win on our Saturday Mersey Series and followed this up with another by winning our Briars Cup Open on the same venue the following day. On Saturday Ray showed his mastery of the pole on this venue with a roach and perch catch 0f 11lbs taken on maggot. Chris Ray in Runner-up spot weighed in 8-5-0 that included a bonus 5lbs bream taken on groundbait feeder and maggot.
The same tactics on Sunday for the Briars Cup open saw Ray with 10-14-0 followed by Neil Buist who also fished the pole and maggot for 9-13-0.
