13th June 2017 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes

13th June, 2017 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes[f1]

Lots of fish are showing at Woodshaw Reservoir where John Reece reports having a busy afternoon session last week. John fished pole and soft pellet to catch eighteen crucians all around the 2lbs mark plus two chub of the same stamp. Worth a visit as evidently the fish have all spawned and by all accounts they are 'on the munch'. Also in Wigan our Worthington Lakes complex sees Adlington Reservoir re-open for fishing on Friday 16th June after being closed for three months. Reports please.

Currently Ackers Pit must rate amongst one of our lesser used fisheries despite it being full of fish with easy access and parking. Our local bailiff is currently reconstructing and re-surfacing all the pegs so you can virtually fish in your slippers! Members this week were catching carp, tench, roach, and crucians, no complicated methods just back to basics waggler fishing.

At last following an imposed 90 day unnecessary coarse fish closed season on our river fisheries they are open for business again on Friday 16th June. Let us just hope that the fish are in a feeding mood for our first Mersey Association Contest on Sunday (details below) as evidently the EA Fisheries bailiffs spotted a large shoal of bream spawning in the weedy margins. Next Saturday the 24th our regular weekly match series kicks off, 9am draw Kingsway allotments.

Our Disabled & Over 60's match on Monday was fished this week on the Bridgewater Canal at Hill Top which saw Lennie (end peg) Dutton win with a net of roach for 2-14-12. Runner-up Roy Rogers  was only two ounces behind with a weight of 2-12-12. Despite the low weights it was a fairly close match.

It is always a last resort when our committee withdraw membership but on Monday two anglers became ex-members when they showed a total disregard for our rules.

WAA Headquarters at 52, Parker Street are open as usual every Friday between 7 & 9pm for new members, subscriptions, night permit renewals, and any queries. Please email catch details to frank@warrington-anglers.org.uk or give me a ring on 01928 716238.
