28th March 2017 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes

28th March, 2017 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes

Don't forget this weekend, the 1st and 2nd of April it is the Northern Angling Show which gets better every year, this time there are over 150 exhibitors. Call in and see us on stand D147.

Bradley Nicholls took his nine years old son Callum for a short session on Ackers Pits on Sunday. Fishing a waggler towards the far bank with slow sinking bread Callum landed four carp by himself, best around 7lbs in only an hour. This will be a magic sixty minutes that he will remember forever. So, come on all you dads, grandads, uncles, in fact all senior members should make the commitment to introduce a youngster to our fantastic sport.

Chris Connell enjoyed a good session on our Woodshaw Reservoir fishery on Tuesday where he started on the short pole using maggot and caught lots of roach. At the same time, he was feeding a nine metre line where from his first put in he caught a fish every cast made up of carp, perch, crucians and skimmers. All fish fell to soft pellet and he even took corn as a change of bait but ended up feeding this to the swans, happy days all round.

Ian Shepherd made the most of the good weather on Tuesday and took a trip to High Legh Fisheries. He legered with a PVA bag containing strawberry pellets and landed six carp to just over 10lbs losing two at the net. Ian enjoyed his session but the downside was that the company no longer makes these pellets and he only has half a bag remaining!

The tench are starting to feed on both Rixton Claypits and Grey mist where fish to over 6lbs are being caught. A few carp have been caught but nothing to set the world on fire. Keep putting the bait in guys😊

Lenny 'End Peg' Dutton won our Disabled and Over 60's match on Monday where living up to the nickname given to him by his match mates he weighed in 2-8-12 of roach and skimmers taken on bread punch. There was no need to ask what second placed George Barber used as rumours are rife that he has shares in Warburtons. He weighed in 1-12-0 of small roach.
