21st May 2013 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes

21st May 2013 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes.

Cheshire Constabulary are asking for any information on the Grey Mist robbery that occurred last Tuesday 14th May at around 10-45pm. Warrington Anglers Association are offering a £1000 reward if you have any information that leads to the arrest and successful prosecution of the persons concerned. Please contact the police on 101 quoting incident number 986 14/5.

Well done to our junior team who won the CADG Spring League overall. They were helped with a superb last match result held on Sandmere and Dovemere when they amassed a score of 144.5 points out of a possible 165. Ryan Brown won on the day with 20lbs of roach taken using pole and waggler tactics on maggot. The team ended up with 457points giving them a lead of 12.5points over runners-up Tameside Matrix.

Thanks to the members who helped identify night pegs at Appleton Reservoir on Saturday morning, hopefully it should be up and running in a few weeks. Whilst there I witnessed a few members catch a carp or two, Paul Brocklehurst had three and his mate Stuart Grayson had two, both took fish on feeder tactics and fake corn. Another angler had four with the best at about 13lbs but at least anglers are back on this underused water.

At Grey Mist Mere tench are still coming out with one angler having ten to fifteen each session with his best at 7-12-0. I tried my luck for a few hours late on Sunday afternoon which resulted in another blank to my credit. A few carp are showing and I saw member Terry Burns land one our VS stocked mirrors at 14lbs that fell for a spicy peanut boilie.

Arley Reservoir on our Worthington complex is producing a few small carp but it is really the roach and bream at the moment that are giving the best sport. One angler reportedly had six bream that he weighed ranging from 5 to over 6lbs and another half dozen he didn't bother to weigh. Method was groundbait feeder and double caster.

Cicily Mill Pool is worth a visit, lots of roach coming out along with tench and bream. A few carp have been reported and the 'Cicily Common' came out on Saturday morning at 32lbs to an Angler on only his second visit to the fishery. I know of others who have been after this fish for some considerable time but that's fishing for you, unpredictable.

Don't forget if you have a night permit you can only book on between 9am and 6pm. Messages left outside these times will not be accepted. Also we do not allow nocturnal visits from any persons who are not booked on the fishery at that time.

Your catch reports are invaluable to this column and fellow members. Either ring me on 01928 716238 or email frank@warrington-anglers.org.uk. HQ 52, Parker Street is open as usual between 7 & 9-00pm on Friday, for subscriptions, new memberships/night permits, or any queries.
