13th November 2012 Warrington Anglers Guardian Notes

13th November 2012 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes.

Keith Barlow was over the moon with his catch of a 26-14-0 mirror carp from Grey Mist Mere on Friday. The icing on the cake was the fact that the fish was identified from our gallery as being stocked at 17lbs in 2010 which blows wide apart the pundits view that 'the tench eat all the grub' and 'they don't grow in the Mist'. Fishing with his mate Mike Robinson they shared a five fish catch and Mike lost two. Others weighed two at 14lbs and one 17lbs. Another member had four fish the same day so it looks like they have at last switched to feed up for winter.

This week we also stocked Grey Mist with thirty four VS Fisheries carp, mainly doubles with the best two at 19-12-0. We then went to Moore Quarry to introduce ten fish, all mid to upper doubles with the best two at 19-8-0 and 19-12-0. Sandiway small (17.5acre) lake was our next port of call where eighteen fish, all doubles were stocked with the best at 14-12-0. Then across the track at our 53acre fishery we introduced ten doubles with the best at 19-12-0. All the fish were absolutely stunning and mainly mirrors, but the star of the show was undoubtedly a fully scaled mirror that went into the large lake. Many thanks to the members who gave up their time to help, everything went like clockwork, an awesome team.

The River Wyre was stocked last week courtesy of the Environment Agency with 2000 chublets and I am informed that more roach and possibly rudd on the way. My contacts at St Michaels anglers also reckon that subject to health checks there may be even more fish in the near future. All good news.

Our Disabled and Over 60's match was really a matter of struggling for bites and saw weights plummet from those of the previous week. Veteran angler, Jimmy Byrne dug really deep to come up with a winning catch of 2-3-8. Third placed angler Lenny Dutton is worth a mention as he edged out Harold Gaskill into fourth with a daddy ruffe. I must admit in all my years I have never heard of one being caught on the Bridgewater. A flask check has been mooted for next week.

We are currently evaluating fisheries from where I do not receive catch any reports whatsoever which tends to indicate  members are not using a particular venue. We are looking this week at our stretch of the River Calder at Whalley. The simple question is do members visit, if so it is imperative that you get in touch.

Please note that due to a combination of illness and holidays our office will remain closed on Friday evening 16th November, 2012. If anyone needs information on any aspect of joining etc please ring me on the number below or send me an email.

Many thanks to those members who send me their catch reports, please keep them coming. Contact me either by phone Tel 01928 716238 or email frank@warrington-anglers.org.uk. HQ 52, Parker Street is now open as usual between 7 & 8-30pm every Friday, for subscriptions, new memberships/night permits, or any queries.
