22nd March 2011 Warrington Anglers Guardian Notes

22nd March 2011 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes.

We had a small number of anglers moaning about being moved from pegs last week whilst restoration work was being carried out at Sandiway Lakes; however I would point out that this was in the interests of safety. Unfortunately as the exact work program with heavy machinery was an unknown quantity the only other alternative was to close almost the whole fishery. Left to the discretion of our working party volunteers I think they did right by the members with a minimum of disturbance. Improvement works should be finished by the end of the week.

The change in the weather has increased fish activity on most of our fisheries with Grey Mist Mere producing a fair proportion of the newer stocked carp. One member had three, the best a mirror of seventeen pounds. Tench are also showing in good numbers plus a few pike.

After reporting the meagre weights in last week's Disabled & Over 60's match it makes a pleasant change this week to see John Sharpe need 9-3-0 of skimmers and roach to edge Harry Morris into second place by the slimmest of margins. Just a few grams separated the pair and both alternated between bread and caster.

The Spring League fished on the Macclesfield Canal at Scholar Green also produced some decent weights although unusually not quite as good as the Bridgewater. Lee Clarke led the field with 6-6-12 of roach followed by up and coming young squad member Jack Bellis on 5-12-12.

If you have not yet received your membership booklet then please let me know immediately. Also some of you may have noticed that on a number of them our printers have made an error collating the pages which means that some booklets are incomplete. If you require a correct version then please get in touch.

We are desperately looking for a half decent and reliable Transit type tipper for carrying out club fishery improvement projects. If any member knows of a bargain then please let me know.

The AGM is being held 8pm on Thursday 24th March 2011 at Grappenhall Ex-serviceman's Club, Chester Road, Grappenhall Warrington. Year 2011 cards to be shown at door. Hope to see you there.

Please keep sending in your catch reports whatever they are, good, bad, or indifferent, as they are invaluable. Contact me either by phone Tel 01928 716238 or email frank@warrington-anglers.org.uk. HQ Parker Street is now open as usual between 7 & 9pm on Friday, for 2011 night permits and new memberships.
