5th October 2010 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian

There is no more news yet about the situation at Grey Mist and the water will remain closed with further updates  posted on the WAA website when available. Please note the website will be down for a short period on Saturday for some enhancement work.

Rixton Claypits is producing mainly skimmers and roach to maggot plus a few tench. Best carp reported over the weekend was a mirror of 17lbs. Please note take your litter home, do not hang it on trees or dump it on the car park or you will lose your membership. In the past few months we have banned two anglers for leaving litter with another under investigation.

Our minnows/junior/inters prize presentation is next Saturday and the presentation fun match which will be in the form of a team event is fished during the day.

There will be minnows, juniors and intermediate members in each team captained by a senior coach or adult match angler. To make it more interesting and competitive the four individuals making up each team are only known to the organisers during the day, so it is a big surprise when the final result is announced at the prize presentation and buffet after the match.

The Mersey match was a bit of a dire affair last Sunday with the constant torrential rain making conditions difficult to say the least. According to match organiser Bob Campbell there were only eleven mad enough to turn out. However mad or not Steve Featherstone found over sixteen pounds of bream in his peg to take top spot.

Just a reminder the race night fundraiser to enable our Internationals, Wendy Locker and Helen Dagnall raise the £2000 they  need so they can represent England in the World Champs in South Africa at the end of this month is on Friday ( tomorrow) evening  7-30pm at Grappenhall Ex Servicemen's Club.

Tickets £6 including a Hot Pot supper can be purchased from Helen at Cheshire Angling in Thelwall Lane, Latchford or pay on the door. If you can support the event please do they still have a long way to go to reach their target amount.

Please continue sending in your catch reports as they are valuable to both your fellow members and your committee. Contact me either by phone Tel 01928 716238 or email frank@warrington-anglers.org.uk.

HQ Parker Street is open as usual on Friday evening between 7 & 9pm for subscriptions, night permits, and new memberships (these can also be purchased from any of our tackle shop outlets listed on our website www.warrington-anglers.org.uk
