11th November Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes

Ernie Hutchinson and Dickie Wernham have been on their travels around the waters and have passed
on some good information they paid a visit to the Macclesfield canal which and was on form and provided a good days sport Ernie tackled up and put his bait in poured a cup of tea from his flask and had a bite immediately. He had five decent bream in the net before Dickie had his first but once he had that first bite the fish were queuing up

throughout the day all caught on caster.

Wide Hole at Poynton was also on good form it always seems to fish well, waggler and caster does the job every time. Just as a matter of interest WAA signs have been ripped down and some of the fence near to the entrance has been broken by vandals but contrary to tackle shop gossip in that area we have not `given it up' our Association owns it and we have deeds to prove it.

On Sunday Worthington reservoirs were their chosen venues the middle one Arley reservoir produced roach, rudd and bream to 1.5lbs and plenty of them. The best method was fishing a waggler with double red maggot on the hook just touching the bottom. An angler who was walking by stopped to pass the time of day and was very impressed with the quality and the quantity of fish they were catching, despite it not being the best of day's weather wise.

He commented that if they had been there a few weeks ago when it was really fishing they would have `emptied it'! Later in the day they opted for an hour on the top reservoir Adlington, finding it much the same as far as depth, bait and catch rates the trip was pronounced a success. Well worth a visit.

Members of the Pike Anglers Club will be on the Statham (Star Lane) Lymm stretch of the Bridgewater canal on Sunday16th between 10am and 2pm. Any angler keen to learning about fishing for pike appropriate tackle rigs and baits etc should go along and talk to the guys who specialise in catching this species.

Finally despite Frank highlighting this in last weeks report we have again had instances of anglers leaving baited rods unattended. This is not only an offence under the EA fishery byelaws but also is in contravention of our rules.  There is always a possibility that a fish could be deeply hooked or become tethered and we would much prefer to lose a bad member than lose a quality fish any day. If wandering away from your baited rods is how you like to fish….. I understand The Ramblers Society always welcome new members.

Please let me have your catch reports on 01928 716238 FAX 01928713898 or e-mail frank@warrington-anglers.org.uk.
