11th April, 2017 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes
Plenty of action at Rixton Claypits where decent catches of tench and bream on both float and feeder methods and been enjoyed by members. Dave Joyce fished on the pole at 11metres feeding caster and hemp with double red maggot on the hook and ended his session with eight tench and three bream.
Ian Parker enjoyed a good session at High Legh Fishery over the weekend where a small method feeder and pellet saw him catch carp to 11-8-0. Not large by the standards of some fisheries but the fact he landed eighteen kept him busy throughout.
The warmer weather saw a marked upturn in sport at Woodshaw Reservoir with good catches of crucians and carp, taken mainly on pole tactics using soft pellet. Maggot or pinkie is a roach every cast. This well maintained fishery is a credit to the team of local volunteers and hardly a week goes by that a visiting member echoes those same sentiments.
On Mowpin fishing is good at present producing good mixed catches. Close by the Carp Pool although not living up to his name is giving good sport with roach, rudd, and crucians. D & C (Fosters Pools) are producing roach plus the occasional carp. There is currently a parking problem on Higher Lane that the team are trying to resolve.
Lennie (end peg) Dutton was the clear winner of our Disabled & Over 60's match fished at Keckwick with 3-5-12 taken on pole and bread punch. Jimmy Byrne was the runner-up with 2-6-6. The best weights came from Keckwick Bridge towards Preston Brook and most nets were made up of small roach.. Please note there is no match on Easter Monday.
WAA Headquarters at 52, Parker Street are open as usual every Friday between 7 & 9pm for new members, subscriptions, night permit renewals, and any queries. Please email catch details to frank@warrington-anglers.org.uk or give me a ring on 01928 716238.
