6th December 2011 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes

6th December 2011 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes.

In the immortal words of Victor Meldrew, 'I don't believe it' following our long overdue stocking last week of the Mount at Buckley with just over 300 carp it is now apparently 'a pastie water' and ruined as a fishery. This is according to comments made on an internet forum.  I checked through almost two years of my emails relating to the Mount and I had received only one report of someone actually catching a carp but numerous on the need to stock them following fishless visits. The committee have always intended this to be a prolific water and following our original extensive and expensive works only a few anglers have graced its banks with the car park becoming overgrown through lack of use. The Mount has been intentionally heavily stocked to encourage all members to use the fishery, but we are aware in doing so it will not please a few. The situation will obviously be closely monitored.

Around our waters only a few anglers have ventured out on the banks following the sudden change in the weather so reports have been thin on the ground this past week.

Only ten anglers turned out for our regular Mersey Series on Sunday that again saw the tip triumph as the winning method. Jeff Shaw put  9-11-0 of bream and roach on the scales for a decisive win.

The Disabled & Over 60's held their annual Fur & Feather prize match on Monday and although weights were down this did not dampen the spirits in this popular event in which everyone receives a prize. Eventual winner Alan Brown had 3-5-8 taken on pole and punched bread. Thanks to match organiser John Dagnall who takes some good natured stick for his troubles in running this popular series and to Cheshire Angling for sourcing the prizes.

Sunday saw Helen Dagnall guesting for Black Claggers take a second individual win in Warrington Anglers Local Winter League held on the Trent & Mersey at Broken Cross. She had a cracking net of roach and a decent perch taken on caster and worm to finish a pound clear of runner up Neil Davies with 7-5-4. Neil included a perch of 2.5lbs in his 6-5-4 net. Warrington Red took the team honours making them now 6 points overall clear of Black Claggers, closely followed by Cheshire Gold.
