17th October 2017 Warrington Anglers Guardian Notes

17th October, 2017 Warrington Anglers Association Guardian Notes

This Saturday should have been our annual carp stocking on Grey Mist, Moore Quarry, and Sandiway Lakes but due to the increased water temperatures in the holding ponds this has now been postponed in the interests of fish welfare. I will let members know when we receive a new date.

It is rare to get reports from this area due to limited parking but this did not deter Ian Swain who reports a lively piking session on the Trent & Mersey Canal this past weekend between Black Prince boats and Lodge Lane. Travelling light with a drop-shot rod he ended his session on Saturday with seven fish, a perch being the best specimen at exactly 2lbs, along with five pike to 9lbs.

And its pike again but this time from the Bridgewater Canal at Timperley where despite the threat of adverse weather on Sunday John Bradford set up float tackle with sprat sea-baits. The result in a three and a half hour session was three runs with two fish on the mat, 11.75lbs and 14-7-0.

Geoff Brooks won our Monday Disabled & Over 60's match on the Trent & Mersey Canal with a weight of 4-8-0 of small roach, perch, and skimmers. Pip Woodier was in second place just an ounce lighter with 4-7-0.

Our Saturday Mersey Series have been discontinued until further notice, however the Sunday event
is still very much live and this week committee member Ade Green notched up another win with a weight of 6-10-0 made up of perch and roach caught using pole and maggot. In joint second place Roy Everson and Paul Harding fished the ground bait feeder to tie with 4-13-0.

Subscription reminders have been sent out over the past few days to members who have not as yet paid their 2017 subscription. Your stamped-up membership card is your receipt so if you think our records are incorrect please get in touch as soon as possible.

It is that time of the year when reports are getting scarce so anything of interest is more than welcome. Thanks' in anticipation.

WAA Headquarters at 52, Parker Street are open as usual every Friday between 7 & 9pm for new members, subscriptions, night permit renewals, and any queries. Please email catch details to frank@warrington-anglers.org.uk or give me a ring on 01928 716238.
